Dean Jones has claimed on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel that Newcastle United will make a creative attacking signing in January.
Newcastle tried very hard over the summer to recruit some attacking quality to help Eddie Howe have a good season on Tyneside with bids for the likes of James Maddison and Jack Harrison being knocked back.
They did manage to land club-record signing Alexander Isak who’s hit the ground running with two goals in his first three league starts, although the Magpies have now had back-to-back draws in the league, and Jones believes they will look to address their issues going forward in January.
Jones expects Newcastle to move for another attacking signing in the January transfer window.
(40:45) “What they’re lacking is probably a cutting edge at the moment, they’ve got Alexander Isak but he needs people around him to create and Saint-Maximin and Wilson or whoever else they managed to bring in because they will in January I’m sure bring in another creator, they just need a bit more life in that final third, a bit more thrust.”

It’s very obvious that Newcastle are struggling to create chances for their strikers this season, especially when Allan Saint-Maximin is out injured, this is because nobody has registered more than one assist in the league this season apart from the Frenchman (FBRef).
Reports have suggested that Newcastle will look to make yet another bid for Maddison from Leicester City in January, after seeing two huge bids rejected over the summer, although as long as the midfielder is performing well his price will only increase.
Newcastle were also very interested in Moussa Diaby over the summer but the lure of playing Champions League football with Bayer Leverkusen proved too much, although if they get knocked out, he could be a player that the Magpies look to target once again.
