Journalist Jordan Cronin has slammed Newcastle United forward Miguel Almiron for his display in the club’s most recent game.

In their seventh Premier League match of the season, the Magpies were aiming for all three points at St James’ Park as they took on Bournemouth at home.

However, in the end, both teams had to settle for a point. Indeed, after a pretty disappointing first half, the Cherries took the lead through Philip Billing. Just five minutes later, though, Alexander Isak equalised via the penalty spot.

That was enough to decide the game as things ended all square at 1-1 but it seems as though one man stood out for all the wrong reasons in the Newcastle attack.

This was noted by Cronin in the player ratings for Newcastle World as he handed Almiron a 6/10 for his efforts and slammed him for wasting a number of ‘good positions.

He wrote: “The most involved of Newcastle’s three attackers but had zero quality to show for it after getting into a number of good positions.”

TIF thoughts on Miguel Almiron and Newcastle United…

When it comes to his stats from the game, as shown by SofaScore, it certainly looks as though Almiron struggled to make a positive impact despite being involved in the attack.

Indeed, he lost possession 11 times, was caught offside once, managed just one shot in the game, and failed to find a teammate with his one attempted cross.

However, his general stats aren’t to be frowned upon as he managed a pass success rate of 90% and won 4/5 duels.
