Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on his YouTube channel about the big opportunity involving Newcastle United summer target Youri Tielemans.

Newcastle were one of the clubs being hotly tipped to make a move for Tielemans over the summer and even on deadline day the Magpies were stills seemingly very keen on landing the midfielder, although no move ended up coming to fruition.

PIF may well be ruing the decision to not go all in on Tielemans given their struggles in front of goal recently with just three goals in their last four games and also, because of injuries to the likes of Jonjo Shelvey and most recently Bruno Guimaraes.

Romano believes that several clubs will have a huge opportunity to land Tielemans next summer when he becomes a free agent.

(2:20) “A player who could be available in a few months as a free agent, also other clubs in other countries were taking information from the situation of Tielemans but then they decided not to spend that money.

Should Newcastle sign Tielemans?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“In my opinion, it was a big chance guys, because he knows the Premier League, he knows the top level, he’s a quality player and he’s also a top professional as a player Tielemans but I’m sure that as a free agent, there’s going to be a huge opportunity in the next month for many, many clubs.”

TIF Thoughts on Tielemans’ situation…

Newcastle are clearly in desperate need of further creativity in their side because when Allan Saint-Maximin is out of the team they appear far too easy to defend against, which is no surprise given how poor their other wingers’ outputs have been since the start of last season, just 10 goal involvements between them (FBRef).

How well do you remember Newcastle's January transfer window? An easy one to start with: where did Newcastle sign Bruno Guimaraes from?

Tielemans is a player that can operate in several different positions in midfield which could help unleash Bruno Guimaraes, who’s struggled to make the same sort of impact as he did last season in the Premier League, at least in front of goal.

However, if Tielemans does indeed run down his contract then Newcastle would likely face stiff competition from clubs with European football on offer to the Belgian, so perhaps a January move could well be what PIF have to do if they are still keen on the midfielder.
