Injury specialist Ben Dinnery recently revealed Newcastle United’s Allan Saint-Maximin has picked up a ‘slight setback’ in his recovery from his recent injury.
Despite spending a huge £122.4m in the summer window, the Magpies have only picked up one win as they sit 11th in the Premier League table and have failed to win in their last five games.
Unfortunately for Newcastle and the fans, their star winger picked up a knock during their 1-1 draw with Wolves and hasn’t featured in their last three games, where they failed to pick up a point against Liverpool and only managed a draw with both Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.
Things do not look to be on the up for Saint-Maximin as Dinnery recently reported on the Premier FPL Injuries that he has suffered a setback in his recovery and therefore could miss more time.
He said: “For Newcastle. Lots of questions with regard to updates for Allan Saint-Maximin. Unfortunately, he suffered a slight setback in his recovery from a hamstring problem. That’s the same hamstring injury that he suffered against Wolves.”
TIF Thoughts on Saint-Maximin…
If Newcastle are to reach the heights they expect to hit this season and plant a crusade into the top six, we think they are going to need Saint-Maximin back and firing, otherwise, they face another disappointing season.
So far in the 22/23 campaign, the Frenchman has picked up one goal and two assists in his four Premier League games, including a wonder strike in the dying embers of the Wolves game that secured them a point.
Once Howe is able to put Saint-Maximin, Callum Wilson and Isak in attack together, the Magpies will surely shoot themselves up the table. But without him, it is hard to see how they will finish in the top ten relying on the likes of Miguel Almiron, Ryan Fraser and Chris Wood who have only picked up two goals between them so far this season.
