Journalist Fabrizio Romano has stated that Manchester United will look to discuss a new contract with Marcus Rashford in the next few months.

In his last four Premier League games, the Englishman has delivered three goals and two assists, rediscovering some of his best form for some time.

With his performance levels improving, fans may well be anxious to hear about Rashford’s plans for the future, especially as his current contract with Manchester United will expire next summer (as per Transfermarkt).

While speaking about the situation on The United Stand, Romano said it ‘will take some time’ to sort, but the player and club should soon enter talks over a new deal, with Erik ten Hag viewing Rashford as part of his project.

He explained: “I think it will take some time, but they want to discuss [a contract] with Rashford.

“Marcus Rashford and his camp have known about it since June. Since Erik ten Hag arrived, he always wanted Rashford to be part of the project. As we mentioned here many times, Erik ten Hag is in love with young talented players, it’s a personal challenge for him to have Rashford at the best level.

“I’m sure that he wants Rashford to sign a new deal, and this is something they will discuss in the next months, it’s not something [to be] discussed now.”

TIF Thoughts on Marcus Rashford and Manchester United…

Last season in the league, Rashford managed just four goals and only two assists. Considering he is one goal behind that tally and has already created as many assists this term, it’s safe to say Ten Hag is getting the best out of him now.

What’s more, fans may well be delighted that the 24-year-old is part of his manager’s plans as he loves to work with younger talents such as Rashford.

However, with his contract set to expire next summer and past reported interest from PSG, there could be some nerves over the situation. But at least for now, it looks like things are heading in the right direction.
