Journalist Jacque Talbot has claimed that Liverpool are confident they will beat off competition from other clubs and sign Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool made a late-window move for a midfielder over the summer as their injury crisis was only getting more obvious, although it wasn’t the dream signing many may have hoped for in the form of Bellingham, as they landed Arthur Melo on loan.

It has been reported that Liverpool can indeed sign the Brazilian on a permanent basis next summer when his loan deal expires, however, reports have suggested that Borussia Dortmund are willing to sell Bellingham for £83m – something that will likely interest the Reds.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Talbot believes that despite interest from other clubs, Liverpool are confident they can sign Bellingham from Dortmund.

He said: “Liverpool are very confident they’re going to get him. Liverpool seem very confident that that’s going to transpire.

Will Liverpool sign Bellingham?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“I feel maybe they might have a bit of an advantage, just sort of speculatively, I wonder if there’s anything there with Dortmund and Klopp, and I think a lot all depends on how the clubs are doing this season. I just don’t see him going to Manchester City.”

TIF Thoughts on Liverpool’s interest in Bellingham…

Interestingly, Matheus Nunes, a player who wanted to move to Liverpool before his eventual summer transfer to Wolverhampton Wanderers, is one of the most similar players to Jude Bellingham according to stat analysis from CIES Football Observatory.

Whoever does manage to sign Bellingham will be getting one of the biggest young talents in football – and despite being just 19, potentially one of the best midfielders in the world given how often he’s playing for Dortmund in the Bundesliga and Champions League, while he is also already an experienced international.

Which flop signed with Luis Suarez?

Bellingham was voted as the best newcomer in the German top flight following his arrival from Birmingham City in 2020, which goes to show what a talent he really is at such a young age – never mind the fact he’s also already got 17 England caps.

The youngster may well see that Liverpool’s midfielder is ageing with Jordan Henderson, James Milner and Thiago all on the wrong side of 30 and think that he can slot straight into Klopp’s side without much competition and thus ensure he would still get a lot of playing time.

Whereas at Manchester City, he may struggle to nail down regular minutes – he only has to look at Kalvin Phillips as an example of that.
