Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers may be “teetering on the brink” of losing his job over the coming weeks.

That is according to pundit Craig Burley, who was giving his opinion on the Foxes manager on ESPN FC.

The Leicester manager’s position has come under scrutiny recently, with Rodgers’ side remaining the only club in the top-flight yet to win a fixture so far this season, rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table.

Their most recent game was a 6-2 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur, which means that the club have conceded 22 goals in just seven games this season.

And Burley believes that Rodgers could now be extremely close to facing the sack, following the club’s poor start to the season.

“I think he’s teetering on the brink,” Burley told ESPN FC.

“Not that I don’t think he’s a very good coach, because he is, and he’s proven.

“But whether his words are stale, or the players are switching off.”

TIF Thoughts on Burley’s comments

We agree with Burley, and believe that sooner or later something has got to give at the King Power Stadium.

The Foxes welcome arch-rivals Nottingham Forest for their next game after the international break, and you’d imagine a defeat in that game would be the final nail in the coffin for Rodgers’ tenure in the East Midlands.

We therefore think that if the former Celtic manager survives the international break, he will be fighting an extremely tough battle to keep his job and will have to go on an impressive run of results to avoid the sack.
