According to Ben Jacobs, Leicester City are still deliberating over what a deal for Jeremie Boga will look like.

It has taken until deadline day for the Foxes to spend some money on a player as they have completed a deal to sign central defender Wout Faes for £15m. It also looks like they could bring in another player before the end of the deadline as they have been linked with a forward from Serie A.

The player in question is Atalanta’s young winger, Boga, who La Dea signed permanently this summer after his successful loan during the 21/22 season. While it may seem strange they are willing to let go of a player that they recently signed, they also bought in Ademola Lookman who has already scored this season and taken his potential minutes.

However, Jacobs gave a recent update on the move during an appearance on the Football Transfer Twitter page where he claimed he believes the deal will happen but the club is currently deciding on if they want to put a buy option in the deal.

Jacobs said: “We’ve already managed to establish that Leicester can now move in the market which is great news from the perspective of the club, and the first one has come in already in the form of Wout [Faes]. and then [Jeremie] Boga, I think is going to follow, but only on a loan deal for now. It’s unclear at this stage. I think they’re still talking about it, whether they’ll be an option to buy.”

TIF Thoughts on Boga to Leicester…

So far this season Boga has made just one appearance for La Dea for a total of 24 minutes and has struggled to get on the pitch despite making 34 appearances for the club across all competitions last season where he grabbed two goals and four assists.

Despite the fact he has not picked up a load of goals and assists he would be a very useful rotation player for Leicester as he is elite at bringing the ball up the pitch and can help the likes of Harvey Barnes and James Maddison in the attack.

This is exemplified by his Fbref stats as he currently ranks in the 99th percentile for dribbles completed, 98th for progressive carries and the 92nd for touches in the attacking penalty area compared to other attacking midfielders and wingers in Europe’s top five leagues.

Leicester desperately needs some more firepower before the window slams shut and considering they’re struggling to spend money, a loan deal for Boga would be a great deal. They don’t take the financial hit they would on a permanent signing and they can send him back if he doesn’t impress.
