It has been claimed that Leeds United are still ‘hovering’ over Harrison Ashby regarding a possible transfer.

On transfer deadline day, it was revealed that Ashby was being chased by a couple of Premier League clubs, including the Whites.

In the end, the West Ham United youngster stayed put, but as he supposedly isn’t keen on signing a new contract, this will potentially leave space for Leeds to come in and make a move for him again this winter.

Evidently, Jesse Marsch and co are well aware of this, as according to noted insider ExWHUemployee, they have been offering Ashby the chance of more first-team football should he join them in the near future.

Talking about the situation on The West Ham Way podcast, Ex said: “Newcastle did make a firm move for Ashby. Leeds, like they did with Sonny Perkins, are also hovering as well to make a move for him.

“And they’ve said to him that he would be backup right-back, so he’d probably be on the bench, whereas at West Ham, in theory, he’s third-choice right-back – and obviously, he’d get more money as well.”

TIF Thoughts on Harrison Ashby and Leeds United…

As alluded to, Leeds already swooped in and stole Perkins for the West Ham youth setup, so they will know how to get things done if they really do want to land Ashby.

What’s more, with the likes of Ben Johnson and Vladimir Coufal in the Hammers team, Ashby may prefer to leave if he really is being offered a spot as the Whites’ main backup option.

And with the youngster’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, the West Yorkshire club could come in this January and land him on the cheap, or even pick him up for free next summer.

The FA should be looking at the way Leeds have been attempting to tap up players in the last few years. Did it with Perkins, now trying it with Ashby. Really hope they get relegated.
