Journalist Beren Cross has stated that Jesse Marsch was not happy with Jack Harrison during Leeds United’s latest game.
The Whites were soundly beaten during their Premier League match this weekend. Indeed, despite Marsch’s men scoring twice, Brentford struck five of their own to win the game 5-2.
However, at half-time, the game was still in the balance as Luis Sinisterra had pulled one back just before the break following Ivan Toney’s brace – which would later turn into a hat-trick.
Clearly not happy with the performance of his winger, Marsch opted to hook Harrison and bring on Patrick Bamford for the second half.
While speaking on the LeedsLive Facebook stream after the match, Cross explains that Marsch felt the energy levels from Harrison were not up to standard.
He said: “Harrison pulled at half-time. Marsch not too happy with his energy levels.
“Didn’t feel that Harrison had the power in the legs he normally has, and probably tired after a three-game week.”

In fairness to Harrison, he has started all six of Leeds United’s Premier League games up to this point in the season. And with that being his third outing in quick succession as Cross mentioned, it’s no shock to hear he might have been tired.
In his 45 minutes against Brentford, Harrison won just two of his four ground duels and lost both his aerial duels. He also found a teammate with only one of his seven crosses (via SofaScore), so it’s fair to say he wasn’t at his best.
With one goal and three assists in the league already this term, the winger has been a great spark so far. But it’s evident he faded a fair bit in this latest outing. While it’s no surprise Marsch wasn’t happy with what he saw, perhaps having been rested for 45 minutes, Harrison will be back to his best next time out and the manager will not hold his physical state against him.
