YouTuber Joe Wainman has admitted on Twitter that he wants Luke Ayling and Liam Cooper to be put into the starting lineup for Leeds United.

After a run of positive results and a great start to the season, Leeds have been brought back down to earth recently with no wins in their last three league games – with the Whites suffering a heavy 5-2 defeat at the weekend.

Leeds did indeed fall behind on Saturday and found themselves 2-1 down at half-time before going on to ship further goals after the restart, but there was a slight positive as long-time servant Ayling made his return from injury.

This has left Wainman claiming on Twitter that he wants to see both Ayling and club captain Cooper starting in Leeds’ next game as they seek to return to winning ways.

He wrote: “It’s mad, but three seasons into the Premier League, I want that Championship rearguard back next game in Cooper & Ayling.”

TIF Thoughts on Copper and Ayling returning…

It would indeed be a bit of a throwback to start both Cooper and Ayling for Leeds, especially when they were starters back during their Championship days, so naturally, should have been upgraded by now.

However, with just one clean sheet all season and results now turning, it may be time for Jesse Marsch to call upon some tried and tested players to try and get some defensive solidity.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

Neither of them has started a league game all season as Marsch has opted for the likes of Robin Koch and Diego Llorente instead, but with the latter making a high-profile error two games ago and Rasmus Kristensen still adjusting to the Premier League, it may be time for the likes of Cooper and Ayling to be handed starts as Wainman suggests.
