According to GiveMeSport, Leeds United have made contact over the potential signing of South Korea forward Hwang Hee-chan.

It has been reported that the Whites had offered Wolves a £17m package to sign the former RB Leipzig forward this summer, but the West Midlands side have turned the informal offer down due to the structure of the deal.

Jesse Marsch may be desperate for the club to secure the signing of Hwang this summer, now that a potential deal of PSV winger Cody Gakpo is seemingly off the cards, according to Fabrizio Romano.

And a Leeds source has indicated that whilst Marsch knows Hwang well from his time as manager of RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig, the club may also have other options they can explore.

They told GMS: “He’s someone that Jesse knows really, really well, but he’s not the only option they’ve got.

“Discussions have taken place over that [deal for Hwang], but whether he’s the one that comes in remains to be seen.”

TIF Thoughts on Leeds United and Hwang Hee-chan…

We believe that on this current deadline day, Leeds’ need for another forward is now a matter of urgency, and the club may have no choice but to make a move for the 47-time South Korea international, who has been dubbed as a ‘top player’.

The wide forward scored five Premier League goals in 30 appearances last season, according to Transfermarkt.

We think that Hwang’s goalscoring stats don’t justify the Whites paying a fee of £25m this summer, but the club may be left with no other option if they cannot bring an alternative option to the club this summer.
