Leeds United want to be “smart in their recruitment” with Jesse Marsch at the helm.

That is according to transfer insider Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the latest news from Elland Road.

Marsch welcomed eight new permanent additions to the Premier League club this summer, half of which were from clubs in the Germany/Austria region where he has previously managed before with RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig.

It already seems as though the club are using the appointment of Marsch to their advantage, with the recruitment team seemingly being ahead of the curve when it comes to signing players the American has previously worked with.

And Jones believes that the club don’t want to be overpaying for players and are willing to use Marsch’s advice when looking at signing players.

“They want to be smart in their recruitment, too.

“They don’t want to go after all the same people that everybody else is, and overpaying for people.

“So, Jesse Marsch’s insight into that it’s going to be key.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments

We believe that the transfer policy that Leeds have is clearly working, with a number of the Whites’ signings impressing so far this campaign.

Midfielders Marc Roca and Tyler Adams have arguably been the most impressive so far, and this is shown by the fact that both players rank fourth and fifth respectively in the Leeds squad for average SofaScore ratings for the Premier League season so far (7.07 and 7.00.)

We therefore believe that it would be a waste if Victor Orta and co. were to ignore Marsch’s suggestions in recruitment meetings, with the American’s influence already making a positive impact on the Leeds squad.
