Leeds United star Sonny Perkins has once again made the headlines in the latest outing for the England Under-19s.

The newly acquired prospect has had an impressive month of football, and journalist Joe Donnohue has been left mightily impressed on the back of his latest performance.

England U19s have now played three games in the latest international break and Perkins has added five goals to his tally, as well as an assist.

Leeds have had their issues in attack this season already, with injuries to both Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford seeing Joe Gelhardt promoted to the starting XI in their most recent game.

Jesse Marsch’s men now return to action at the weekend as Aston Villa make the trip to West Yorkshire, and ahead of the clash, Donnohue has waxed lyrical over the 18-year-old’s international displays.

Writing in the Yorkshire Evening Post, he said: “Perkins’ opener versus the Danes helped the Leeds teenager maintain his own outstanding run having scored in each fixture he has played for club and country since the beginning of the season.”

TIF Thoughts on Donnohue’s comments…

The 19-year-old’s exit from West Ham United came with a whole lot of controversy, however, it seems the backlash from his former side was worth it, with the Whites seemingly landing a real gem.

Perkins was also looked at by the likes of Tottenham Hotspur over the summer, which shows the demand surrounding the striker’s services.

Having impressed once again, it will be interesting to see whether Perkins can now keep up this form, which he has also shown for Leeds at youth level.

Having already scored six in his first five games in the Premier League 2, it is surely only a matter of time before he gets the call-up from Marsch.
