Presenter Joe Wainman has expressed his delight after watching Jesse Marsch greet new Leeds United signing Wilfried Gnonto.

On deadline day, things didn’t exactly go to plan for the Whites as they were snubbed by key target Bamba Dieng – who then failed his medical with Nice and so will remain at Marseille.

However, the Premier League outfit did eventually land one man as they pulled off a transfer for the Italian forward, who joined on a five-year deal from Swiss Super League champions FC Zurich.

In behind-scenes footage at the club, the Leeds manager was spotted meeting Gnonto for the first time and it seems as though the American’s manner impressed Wainman.

Indeed, the presenter took to Twitter to enthusiastically say: “Love this!”

In the video, Marsch can be heard praising the Italian teenager’s English, as well as exchanging words in German too, before then showing a touch of class by asking Gnonto about his family and giving him the weekend to sort his living arrangements and other details relating to the sudden move of countries.

Leeds United fans, who were these players sold to? Starting with an easy one: Alan Smith

Still only 18 years of age, Gnonto has already delivered one goal and one assist in just four outings for his country, and so evidently possesses plenty of potential.

If Leeds can harness that, they could well have a top player on their hands. With that in mind, fans will likely be delighted – much like Wainman – to see Marsch being so welcoming to their new man.
