Presenter Conor McGilligan has warned that Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen could soon lose his spot in the team.

The right-back only joined the Whites over the past summer transfer market – signing from Red Bull Salzburg for a fee of around £10m – but it seems as though he hasn’t made the best impact.

Indeed, it seems as though he has taken some time to adapt to life in the Premier League, which has led to some criticism in the media, and could see him at risk of losing his spot.

That is, at least, the view of McGilligan who spoke about the player recently on the One Leeds Fan Channel, and claimed that Luke Ayling could soon come in and start at Leeds United instead.

He said (10:30): “It’s going to be interesting to see the dynamic between Kristensen and Ayling. Because I think that is if Kristensen continues with his performances, I think there is going to be a change in the guard there.

“And that’s going to be really interesting to see that and fascinating to see that dynamic between Kristensen and Ayling playout for the rest of the season. Not saying I agree with that, but I think there will be a switch if Kristensen’s performances do continue like like they are.”

TIF thoughts on Rasmus Kristensen and Leeds…

Up to this point in the season, Kristensen has certainly been the man trusted to play in most games. The fullback has started all but one of the club’s six league matches so far.

However, having now returned from injury, Ayling is back in contention for Jesse Marsch’s men and made an impressive return to action when he provided an assist off the bench against Brentford in the Whites’ last match.

Considering Ayling now has a bit more time to get himself fit and prove himself on the training pitch, with the international break putting a pause on domestic football, this could be the perfect time for the Englishman to stake a claim for a spot back in the team.

It certainly looks as though a place at right-back could be up for grabs and so it will be fascinating to see how it all plays out.
