Journalist Phil Hay has claimed that new Leeds United star Brenden Aaronson could soon be the club’s best player.

This summer, the American made the move into Premier League football, signing from Red Bull Salzburg on a five-year deal for a reported fee of €29m (£24.7m).

Since then, his transition into life with Leeds seems to have gone pretty well. Indeed, he has helped his new club pick up eight points from six games, while also providing one goal and one assist in that time.

In fact, Aaronson’s displays have been so good, when asked who could be the side’s best player, Hay touted the midfielder as a front runner for that accolade.

Speaking on The Phil Hay Show, the journalist said (54:17) “Who is Leeds’ best player at the moment? It could well turn out to be Aaronson, I think, Yeah. I think there’s a lot of talent there.”

TIF thoughts on Brenden Aaronson and Leeds…

Seeing as Leeds lost two of their star men over the summer – in Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips – there quite possibly is a vacant spot free as the club’s new ‘best player’.

With three goals in his first 242 minutes with the club, new signing Luis Sinisterra could also be a future option for that accolade somewhere down the line, and so it is interesting that Hay went with Aaronson instead.

To be fair, both men are still very early on in their careers at Leeds and so it’s too early to make any definitive call. But it certainly bodes well for the club that it hasn’t taken long for Aaronson to come in and impress a respected journalist like Hay so soon.
