YouTuber Conor McGilligan has claimed that Leeds United may view Christian Pulisic as a replacement for Dan James amid recent rumours.

According to reports in the Italian media (via LeedsLive), the American may well be allowed to leave his current club if any offer in the region of £31.5m was to arrive, and the Whites have been named as one club linked with a possible move for the winger.

In that piece, it is explained that the Chelsea man could be on his way out with Juventus also named as a strong suitor, but McGilligan has wondered if Leeds could see Pulisic as a long-term replacement for James.

The Welsh winger joined Fulham on loan for the season, and while talking about the situation on the One Leeds Fan Channel, the presenter speculated that James’ days are numbered amid all these rumours.

He said: “The interesting part of this is it’s going to be fascinating to see why Leeds would be going in for Pulisic.

“Is it a direct placement for Dan James? We know his days are numbered at Leeds United.”

TIF Thoughts on Dan James, Christian Pulisic and Leeds United…

With four goals and five assists during his time with Leeds so far in all competitions, it’s fair to say James has never truly found his feet with the club. Seeing as he was loaned out this term, it is fair to say Jesse Marsch doesn’t see the player as hugely valuable to him.

The manager may, however, feel more excited about the prospect of working with fellow American Pulisic. Indeed, the winger has struggled for game time at Chelsea this term, starting just one Premier League game.

However, still only 24 years of age, he has 21 goals in 52 appearances for his country, so his quality cannot be doubted. If Leeds really are interested in Pulisic, it’s safe to say it doesn’t bode well for James’ long-term future with the club – which already felt precarious before this fresh transfer interest.
