YouTuber Joe Wainman called Leeds United sporting director Victor Orta ‘the decent apple in a group of bad apples’ behind the scenes at Elland Road.
Since he arrived at the club back in 2017, the Whites have won promotion to the Premier League and managed to keep themselves out of the Championship for three seasons in a row now (via LeedsLive).
With that in mind, something must be going well behind the scenes of the club – even though there have also been examples of some high-profile mistakes, such as the failed transfer attempt to sign Bamba Dieng in the summer.
While talking about Orta on the JustJoe Football Show, Wainman seemed to think that the sporting director was actually one of the good guys at Leeds United and sang his praises.
Indeed, he said: “I’m a massive, massive fan of Victor. He’s the decent apple in a group of bad apples, for me personally.”

Seeing as Orta has recently been linked with a new possible role at Chelsea, according to a recent report in The Telegraph, the Spaniard must be doing something right.
And considering Leeds United majority owner Andrea Radrizzani hasn’t always seemed to make the best decisions publicly – as highlighted by his role in the ill-judged ‘welcome’ tweet to Dieng prior to his failed transfer – it’s not hard to see why Wainman may feel as though there are some ‘bad apples’ at the club.
Taking everything into account, it’s fair to say Orta has done enough to earn some respect from the fanbase, so many may well be concerned by the aforementioned Chelsea links.
For now though, at least, he is still at Leeds as they hope to impress this season in the Premier League.
