YouTuber Conor McGilligan has pointed out Christian Pulisic’s worrying injury record amidst links between him and a move to Leeds United.
Leeds target Pulisic was seemingly keen on a summer move, albeit only a temporary one, to ensure he got minutes under his belt ahead of this year’s World Cup, although he wasn’t allowed to leave Chelsea in the end.
The winger has started just one game for the Blues this season and reports have started to speculate over his future and a move to Leeds – who are part-owned by the 49ers – are said to be a club showing an interest in the American.
However, McGilligan isn’t completely sold on the winger because of his injury record, which he highlighted while speaking on his YouTube channel.
He said: “Now, the big problem – from 2019/20 to 2021/22… is his injuries. If you combine those two campaigns, he’s missed 27 games for Chelsea. That’s massive.

“And the reason that’s massive is because if you’re missing those games, it’s going to affect your confidence – which it clearly has with Christian Pulisic – it’s going to affect your synergy within the team, there’s potential for the club to go out and get another winger to maybe replace you as well and you’ve got to compete with that individual.
“It’s a massive, massive difficulty.”

The American winger was brought to the Premier League for £57m back in 2019 but has so far failed to nail down a consistent starting role under several different managers at Stamford Bridge, so it’s no surprise that he’s being tipped with an exit.
Moving to Leeds could well be the step Pulisic needs to resurrect his career as he’d link up with fellow countrymen and international teammates Brenden Aaronson and Tyler Adams and be coached by another American in Jesse Marsch, so he would likely settle in quicker at Leeds compared to elsewhere.
For Leeds, if Pulisic is available and keen to make the switch to Elland Road, it should be a no-brainer given his pedigree and the fact he’s an experienced winger in the Premier League and Champions League – although having no European football may well put him off.
