Journalist Dean Jones has admitted that he’s already been impressed by Leeds United’s Luis Sinisterra – and believes he’ll be a good enough replacement for Raphinha.

It will have been a big worry over the summer for Leeds fans when Raphinha left for Barcelona, as he led the team in goal involvements last season in what was a very tough campaign for the Whites.

However, they appear to have unearthed a gem from the Dutch Eredivisie in the form of Sinisterra, who has hit the ground running following a hamstring injury in pre-season, with four goal involvements in just six appearances for Leeds.

Speaking on the Chasing Green Arrows YouTube channel, Jones has been left impressed by Sinisterra, claiming that he appears to be ‘very similar’ to the Brazilian.

“We haven’t talked about him in this entire show, Sinisterra. I do like him, I think he’s got something about him. When they were looking for a Raphinha replacement, it looks like they’ve found someone very similar in terms of he’s a gamechanger, he’s got a bit about him, a bit of craft.”

TIF Thoughts on Sinisterra…

While it was a frustrating start to life as a Leeds player for Sinisterra after picking up a hamstring injury during pre-season, he burst onto the scene in the Carabao Cup with a goal and an assist against Barnsley.

Since then, he appears to have only gone from strength to strength with two goals from his two Premier League starts and now looks to have nailed down a spot in Jesse Marsch’s side, having started the last two games.

This was a low point in Leeds United's history, but how many points did they get in the 2003/04 campaign?

While Raphinha’s legacy and ability on the ball will likely live long in the memory of Leeds fans, they will be delighted that their £22.5m summer recruit has managed to fill the void somewhat.
