Everton manager Frank Lampard “will get involved” in convincing winger Anthony Gordon to stay at Goodison Park this summer.
That is according to journalist Simon Phillips, who was speaking to GiveMeSport about the latest news from Goodison Park during the international break.
According to The Sun, Everton are looking to offer Gordon a new contract this summer after fellow Premier League side Chelsea were prepared to pay up to £60m for the 21-year-old this summer.
The same media outlet suggests that there could be a release clause totalling up to £75m should the Liverpool-born winger put pen to paper on a new deal.
And Phillips is expecting Lampard to play a major part in attempting to get Gordon to pen a long-term deal and stay with the club for the foreseeable future. However, he also believes that Chelsea will persist in future transfer windows.
On whether Gordon will agree a new deal, he said: “It will be interesting to see what kind of decision he makes on that.
“Lampard will get involved again and try and convince him to stay.
“It will be a big decision for him to make because I think Chelsea will be back in.”

Therefore, we think that Lampard should be doing everything in his power to encourage the Everton hierarchy to offer Gordon – who has been described as a “beast” by journalist Jeff Wallner – acceptable terms in their next contract offer to the young starlet.
