talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook believes that he owes Everton manager Frank Lampard “a little bit of an apology.”

Crook was speaking on the radio station following the Toffees’ 1-0 Premier League victory over West Ham United on Sunday afternoon.

After a tough start to the Premier League season, Lampard’s side earned their first victory of the season at the weekend, following a battling display with the Irons.

However, there has been a sense of optimism around the club, with the club shoring up their defence as well as making some smart additions during the transfer market.

And Crook says that he owes Lampard an apology after predicting another tough season ahead for the Merseyside club.

“I have to admit I may be owing Frank Lampard a little bit of an apology, because I had Everton down as relegation candidates this season, but I think he had a really good transfer window,” Crook told talkSPORT.

“I really like [Amadou] Onana in midfield.

[Neal] Maupay probably won’t get 20 goals this season, but he might get ten, and he’s a real handful, isn’t he?”

TIF Thoughts on Crook’s comments

We believe that despite Crook’s initial comments about Lampard and Everton, the Toffees have had a solid start to the current campaign, despite only picking up their first win of the season on Sunday.

Having played both Chelsea and Liverpool already this season, the Merseyside giants sit 13th in the Premier League after seven games having only lost two matches so far this campaign, and earning a point in a stalemate with rivals from across the park.

Therefore, we think that Lampard has built a decent platform at the start of this campaign, from which Everton can build from.
