Tony Scott has urged Everton to get a new contract sorted for Alex Iwobi while speaking on the All Together Now podcast.
Everton’s story of the season has been the emergence of Iwobi as a central midfielder, something Frank Lampard has openly admitted only came about due to a lack of other options in that role at the start of this campaign.
Out of Everton players to have started at least four league games this season, Iwobi currently boasts a 6.84 WhoScored rating, which is the fifth-best in the entire squad, pointing towards his huge change in form under Lampard.
It was reported earlier this week that Everton were looking to open talks with Iwobi over a new contract, something Scott wants sorting out as soon as possible.

As put by a tweet from The Athletic, Iwobi was once seen as a ‘misfit’ at Everton as he failed to live up to his £35 million price tag managing to return just four goals in the league before the start of this season.
However, he is now seemingly undroppable having made 15 tackles, 44 successful pressures, completed the most passes and has also made the most key passes, showing just how good he’s been at both ends of the pitch this season.
Therefore, it’s only right that the Everton board are now looking to get Iwobi down on a longer-term deal considering that his current contract is set to expire in the summer of 2024, meaning this time next year he will be well and truly into the final 12 months of his deal and potentially thinking about moving on as a free agent.
