Alex Iwobi has responded to a picture which has emerged out of Finch farm which was posted by his Everton teammate Conor Coady.

After claiming that he had no choice but to play Iwobi as a number six in the centre of midfield, Frank Lampard has since stuck with the Nigerian international given his performance and attributes that see him rank second in both successful pressures and tackles against an opponent (FBRef).

It’s a very unlikely transformation for the winger who originally joined Everton for £35 million back in August 2019 and before moving into central midfield had managed to score just four league goals, but now appears to be a favourite amongst the fan base.

Which was showcased when Coady called him out on Instagram and captioned a picture of the pair with ‘When your doing @alexanderiwobi running for him in the boxes’, which didn’t seem to go down too well with Iwobi who responded by saying ‘HOLD ON!’ hinting that the Nigerian doesn’t believe that was the case at all.

TIF Thoughts on Iwobi’s role at Everton…

It’s safe to say that nobody will have seen this turnaround from Iwobi coming at Everton as he was a winger with very little end product when he joined the club managing just eight league goal involvements before the start of this season.

However, it is now looking like a stroke of genius from Lampard to have deployed Iwobi in the midfield area, and his reason for doing so, other than a whole load of injuries, he claims it was because of Iwobi’s athleticism.

Something else that Coady’s Instagram post proves is that there is a great feeling within the club and group of players, which certainly wasn’t apparent last season when they were facing relegation, and that will only help them to pick up more points this time around.
