Journalist Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Crystal Palace would love to sign Conor Gallagher this summer.

Gallagher spent last season on loan with Palace in the Premier League and he impressed, making 34 appearances in the top flight where he scored eight goals and chipped in with three assists, earning him the Player of the Year award at the club.

However, since returning to parent club Chelsea this season, has not had a good start to the 2022/23 Premier League campaign, after he has featured four times, with only two of those being starts and was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 28th minute against Leicester City last weekend.

With Gallagher impressing last season for Palace, Romano spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that the Eagles would love for him to return to Selhurst Park before the transfer window shuts.

“For Crystal Palace, I’m told there is still no official bid but they told Chelsea they would love to sign him and negotiate. But they are not alone because Everton, Newcastle, and many clubs are interested in Conor Gallagher,” Romano said.

TIF Thoughts on Romano’s comments…

Gallagher, who has been hailed as ‘outstanding’, has not started life well back with Chelsea, so he might have run out of chances under Thomas Tuchel and the German manager might be open to accepting an offer for the English midfielder if Palace come to the table with a reasonable fee for him.

However, other sides such as Everton and Newcastle United are also interested in him, and if those three clubs end up in a bidding war for him, there is no guarantee Palace will prevail.

With Gallagher having such an enjoyable spell on loan at Selhurst Park last season, this could play into Patrick Vieira’s hands because he might be thinking that if he wants to get back to his best and enjoy football again, Palace might be the place to go, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up.
