Lucas Digne has posted a potentially big injury update as the Aston Villa ace is already back in the gym after his recent injury.

Steven Gerrard has had to put up with a lot of injury woes already this season with the likes of Diego Carlos, Digne, Matty Cash and Boubacar Kamara all having sustained knocks despite the season not even being three months old.

The latest and potentially most cruel blow has come in the form of Digne who went away with France on international duty with an ankle fracture said to be what’s keeping him out and the Birmingham Mail have claimed that some reports insist he will now miss the World Cup.

However, it may not be as bad as first feared with Digne already seemingly back in the gym working on his rehab as he’s posted a picture of himself on a bike to his Instagram.

TIF Thoughts on Digne’s injury…

With reports claiming that Digne could well miss the World Cup later this year, it will be big news for both his country, Gerrard and the Villa fanbase to see the defender already back working out and trying to strengthen his injured ankle.

It has been a pretty poor start to the season for Gerrard and Villa having won just twice all campaign and with several players walking wounded at Villa Park, it seems like things may only get more difficult.

Losing Digne will have been a major blow for Villa as he’d started every game thus far and also currently ranks third when it comes to shot-creating actions, which is very impressive for a defender and shows how important he is for them in the final third.
