According to David Ornstein of the Athletic, a deal that would see Youri Tielemans sign for Arsenal is very unlikely at this point of the transfer window.

The Gunners have started the season incredibly well as they have won five out of five and sit top of the Premier League. A big reason for this improved form is the business they have done in the summer window so far.

So far they have made huge signings of Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko while integrating William Saliba back into the side after a successful loan at Marseille last season, and he has now become one of most exciting players this season so far.

While they have impressed in the market, one big target for them throughout has been Tielemans, who is in the last year of his contract at Leicester City, but they are yet to make a move for him despite the recent injuries to the likes of Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny.

There have been rumblings that a deadline-day move for Tielemans could be on the cards, however, in a recent interview on The Athletic’s Deadline Day live stream, Ornstein claimed a deal is very unlikely after hearing noises around the game.

Where did Arsenal sign these players from, let's start with an easy one! Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

He said, “The noises we’re getting from around the game – whether that’s Arsenal, the player and other contacts – is that Youri Tielemans to Arsenal is very unlikely to happen.

“You just never know what might materialise late on and money often talks, but there is no sort of movement on that front as things stand.”

TIF Thoughts on Tielemans to Arsenal…

We feel adding a player like Tielemans to this Gunners side would not only cement them as a top-four side, but would make them a serious contender for the Premier League title this season. For this reason alone, it is surprising they have not pushed harder to bring him in.

The Belgian international would bring some progressive ball play to the midfield alongside the more defensive-minded Partey and would help out Martin Odegaard to feed their talented attackers. This is proven by his FBref stats, as he currently ranks in the 91st percentile for shot-creating actions and in the 88th for progressive passes compared to other midfielders in the top five European leagues in the past year.

It has been reported the Foxes are willing to sell this window if a club meets their £25m asking price. At this price, we believe he is an absolute steal and could be one of the signings of the window – so Arsenal should move on this as soon as possible.
