Journalist Charles Watts was pleased to report that injured Arsenal duo Martin Odegaard and Oleksandr Zinchenko should both be fit soon.

This weekend, the duo were missing for the Gunners as they extended their fine run of early season form with a Premier League win that keeps them top of the table.

Indeed, goals from William Saliba, Gabriel Jesus, and Fabio Vieira saw Arsenal cruise to an easy 3-0 win over London rivals Brentford.

However, Mikel Arteta’s men had to make do without captain Odegaard and Zinchenko sparking fears about the pair’s availability for the upcoming north London derby.

While speaking about the situation on his YouTube channel, Watts was able to provide ‘positive news’ for both of the Arsenal players.

Indeed, he said (10:31): “So my understanding is that Arsenal are pretty hopeful that after the international break, for that spurs games, Zinchenko, and Odegaard will be available.

“They’re not believed to be really serious or worrying injuries, it was just a case of looking at it and thinking: You know what, let’s give them a little bit of a break, get them off for that Brentford game, get them into the international break, where they’re going to have a couple more weeks off, and try and get them fit for that Spurs game.

“So from what I’ve been told, it is positive news on those two, and they should be available for Spurs.”

TIF thoughts on Martin Odegaard, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Arsenal…

Considering Odegaard is the club captain, and has three goals in six Premier League games this season, it’s safe to say he is a key man for the Gunners.

On top of that, Arsenal spent a reported £32m on bringing Zinchenko over from Manchester City in the summer, and he’s since played four games, starting the season as the first-choice left-back, he too is a key player in the team.

And so, with a north London derby game against bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur on the horizon, Arteta will be desperate to have the duo back fit – especially with Spurs just a point behind the Gunners.

Thankfully, for now, the two players seem to be heading towards full fitness.
