Journalist James Copley has expressed his excitement on Twitter as Edouard Michut has been spotted back in training with Sunderland’s first team.

The end of the transfer window was rather exciting for Sunderland over the summer as they managed to bring in a handful of players to help Tony Mowbray navigate his way through the season until at least January – and some of the arrivals were rather eye-catching.

This includes the likes of Amad Diallo from Manchester United – a player with European, Premier League and SPFL experience – and Michut, who joined on loan from Paris Saint-Germain having already made his competitive debut and played alongside the likes of Neymar and Lionel Messi.

While Michut is yet to make his debut, Copley is clearly excited by the youngster as he’s reacted positively to a video posted by Sunderland of the midfielder in first-team training.

Will Sunderland finish inside the play-offs?

TIF Thoughts on Michut’s Sunderland role…

It appears to be an exciting signing on paper with Michut turning up on Wearside, given he’s already been thrust into the spotlight over in Paris making his debut in both the Coupe de France and Ligue 1, which is nothing to be shrugged at given the calibre of players available within the PSG squad.

However, what will be difficult and surely of concern to Mowbray is how can Michut deal with the physicality of the English second tier. The midfielder is still just 19 and has never played outside of France while only having three first-team league appearances to his name.

This current PL centre-back almost signed for Sunderland back in 2015.

So to throw him into the mix in the Championship – a notoriously tough and physical league – would be more than just a shock to the system, so while Michut has been seen in training, it may still be a while until he’s ready to start a match for the Black Cats, and cameo appearances off the bench to get him acclimatised could be what Sunderland fans see over the next few weeks – particularly as Mowbray has hinted an appearance following the international break is on the cards.
