Tottenham Hotspur have good chances of continuing the Antonio Conte project in the January window with this winter market expected to be like no other.

This has been suggested by the N17 reporter Alasdair Gold who has been providing the transfer lowdown at Hotspur Way on his latest YouTube video.

Spurs have been busy this summer in bringing in new faces, and actually, have been efficient in the transfer windows since Conte came in last November.

The earlier January window was not a particularly busy one in terms of the Lilywhites bringing in a lot of new faces, however, the business they done was exceptional.

Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur landed in north London and played huge roles in Tottenham’s push for a spot in the Champions League.

And Gold believes, although Spurs don’t want to go into January needing the window, the chances of Tottenham spending are quite high:

(22:30) “I think Spurs will want to be stable, they will want to not really have to go into January unless there’s been a really bad injury in the World Cup.

“But yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised that they look to bring in someone in that window. Again, it does it depends on where Spurs are at, depends on who’s coming through, sorry, who’s playing lots of minutes, depends what competitions they’re still in. But ultimately, I think the chances of Spurs having a January window are far more than any other season.”

TIF Thoughts on Gold’s comments…

Spurs entered the summer window on the back of an announcement of a £150m cash injection from the club’s owners but, to date, there has been just over £90m of that sum spent this summer.

No

It has been no secret Tottenham have missed out on their big transfer wish this summer in landing Alessandro Bastoni who would certainly have put a big dent in the £150m injection.

With this in mind, if Conte does not see the need to spend much more in this summer’s window, we do think it would be wise to take that money into the winter market.

With a World Cup and busy domestic schedule ahead, Spurs could go into January carrying a number of injury issues so having money available for the month of spending could be crucial to a successful campaign.
