Tottenham Hotspur are interested in the young Udinese defender Destiny Udogie with Antonio Conte said to be a huge fan.

This is according to the Sky Sports reported Michael Bridge who has been previewing the upcoming campaign on the Last Word On Spurs YouTube channel.

According to reports, Spurs are closing in on the signing of the 19-year-old Italian who will likely return on loan to the Serie A side for the 2022/23 season.

A deal for the left wing-back is said to cost in the region of £21m with Fabio Paratici looking to add a seventh signing of the summer with the director of football also said to be keen on Udogie.

With the Italian being tipped with a potential call-up for Roberto Mancini’s next national squad, Bridge believes Conte and Paratici love the young prospect and hope to beat a number of big clubs to his signature, including Manchester City:

(38:00) “We’re looking at the Udinese boy [Udogie], left-back, Conte said yeah he’s brilliant, Paratici’s like, yeah, he’s brilliant. So, you know, if Tottenham can get him over the line, they’re gonna beat some serious clubs to his signature. ”

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…

One thing which is apparent is that Conte and Paratici are both big fans of this 19-year-old and for Spurs fans that is all that should matter.

Udogie only has one full season of regular action in Seire A under his belt, but for his first campaign, he impressed massively having returned five goals and three assists from the left wing-back position.

Given he is expected to be loaned back to Udinese for next season, it would suggest there is a concern as to how many years Spurs are able to get out of Ivan Perisic.

In the same breath, this means Ryan Sessegnon will likely be hoping to establish himself under Conte before Udogie is expected to arrive with another young left-back on the scene to battle for the starting spot.
