Newcastle United are expected to have an eye on Callum Hudson-Odoi’s current transfer situation as he looks for a new club this summer.

According to reports, the Chelsea winger is now set to leave west London in the coming weeks as he looks for a club that can offer him more regular football.

And there is an expectation that the Magpies could be one of the clubs from across Europe who are keeping up to speed with the latest on the 21-year-old’s future.

This has been suggested by noted insider ExWHUemployee, who has been speaking on the latest episode of The Transfer Show podcast.

As Eddie Howe’s side continue to monitor the market for a new right-winger, Ex thinks Newcastle, along with Leicester City and Southampton, could provide Hudson-Odoi with a landing spot.

He said: “Leicester and Southampton are interested in England winger Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea, who’s 21. He’s meant to be going on loan before the window shuts. Wouldn’t surprise me if West Ham and Newcastle were also in the mix for that.”

TIF Thoughts on Ex’s comments…

We think this could be a really interesting addition to Howe’s options if Newcastle were to make a move to land the ‘monster’ in the coming weeks.

The 2021/22 campaign was a difficult one for the winger. Having been in and out of Thomas Tuchel’s starting XI, the Englishman then suffered an issue with his Achilles (via Transfermarkt).

However, he has reportedly caught the attention of Borussia Dortmund, and combined with praise from Tuchel only from back in December, we think there is still a player with tons of potential in there:

“Hudson-Odoi was outstanding today, one of his very best performances. We were in doubt he can play one half, but he played 90 minutes,” said the Chelsea manager after a Boxing Day win at Aston Villa last season.

Given the Toon are said to be looking for a right-winger this summer, we think a loan deal for Hudson-Odoi could be the perfect short-term remedy to see them through till next summer, when they may then reassess Moussa Diaby’s situation.

The Blues ace has managed to produce an impressive 40 assists and 47 goals in his short career so far, so a regular run at a Premier League could see the player explode into life – perhaps at St James’ Park.
