Tottenham Hotspur may have been handed a big injury boost ahead of their season opener on Saturday regarding Yves Bissouma.

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge was speaking on the Last Word On Spurs YouTube channel and has claimed he saw the Mali midfielder in the gym at Hotspur Way.

Earlier in the week, it was suggested the new Spurs signing could be set to miss the game against Southampton after picking up a hamstring tweak in the final friendly against AS Roma.

However, Antonio Conte has since suggested the only player who is definitely out for Saturday is Oliver Skipp who sustained a freak ankle injury in training.

On Thursday, Conte held his pre-game press conference at Hotspur Way and Bridge believes Bissouma could be involved on the weekend having been spotted training in the gym:

(8:20) “I saw Bissouma in the gym earlier. So he’s not been ruled out though he wasn’t training but he’s not been ruled out. The only two who are definitely out is Richarlison who’s banned and Skipp.”

TIF Thoughts on Bridge’s comments…

This will be a big boost for all at Spurs given they had already seen their options at central midfield take a hit with the injury to Skipp.

Would you start Bissouma if fit on Saturday?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Although it certainly seems more promising that Bissouma could be in the matchday squad, we do have our doubts over his chances of being in the starting XI.

His pre-season efforts were reduced as a result of testing positive for the virus and having now had his injury doubts, it is difficult to see Conte choosing anyone other than Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for the midfield two.
