Journalist Joshua Barrie has claimed on The Rangers Review that Alfredo Morelos’ situation at Ibrox is looking more positive after speaking to Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

It was seen as a major blow prior to Rangers’ crunch Champions League clash against PSV Eindhoven when Van Bronckhorst confirmed that Morelos would be absent from the squad due to his fitness and commitment levels, and nothing has changed on that front thus far.

The Colombian striker was once again absent from the matchday squad against Ross County at the weekend, but it appears that things could still well have a good ending for everyone involved, with the Dutch boss being set for talks with Morelos over the weekend.

Barrie claimed that after speaking to Van Bronckhorst on Saturday, noises now seem positive in regard to Morelos’ Rangers situation.

He said: “As I say, all the noises are positive. I asked Van Bronckhorst about it in the press conference on Saturday, he said that his response has been good since being omitted from the squad and he was going to have talks with him over the weekend.

Do you want Morelos back in the first team?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

“Presuming that Morelos does come back, the minutes will very much be split between him and Colak, but I guess the argument would be that maybe there is still that need for a third striker in there.”

TIF Thoughts on Morelos’ Rangers’ situation…

It’s safe to say that Morelos has been a top signing for Rangers since his arrival back in 2017, especially in the 2020/21 season in which his 12 league goals helped fire the Gers to the league title and halted Celtic’s 10-in-a-row attempt.

How well do you remember where Rangers' signings came in from down the years? Take our quiz to find out! First up, Carlos Pena was the Gers' most expensive arrival during the summer of 2017, but where did he join from?

However, it won’t have gone down very well within the fanbase when they found Morelos wasn’t seemingly committed and was said to be overweight ahead of that Champions League clash last week.

If Van Bronckhorst can get Morelos back motivated and onside, they could well have a great season, especially if he can rediscover his best form and help partner or provide solid competition for summer recruit Antonio Colak, who is currently in red-hot form with seven goals already in a Rangers shirt.
