Journalist Kieran Devlin has said that Ange Postecoglou’s plan regarding Celtic man Greg Taylor is working so far.
Last week, the Bhoys’ manager claimed that new signing Alexandro Bernabei was brought in to motivate the Scotland international to raise his levels instead of displacing him in the team.
Indeed, Postecoglou said (via The Athletic): “People will say I’ve brought in competition for Greg in Alexandro. But I haven’t brought in competition, I have brought in a player who can hopefully allow Greg Taylor to be the best player he can be.”
And after his performances across the early stages of the season so far, in the eyes of Devlin, this plan has been working perfectly. The journalist claimed as much in a recent tweet.
He wrote: “Postecoglou said last week Bernabei was not brought in to displace Taylor but to ‘allow Taylor to be the best player he can be’. Early doors in the season, but so far it’s working.”

TIF Thoughts on Greg Taylor and Celtic…
In his most recent outing – the 5-0 thrashing of Kilmarnock at Rugby Park – The Scotsman gave Taylor a 9/10 in their player ratings, saying: “Has been an underrated star of the season so far for Celtic and he again came up with the goods here. Fine ball for Maeda to run onto in run-up to opener.”
With that in mind, it seems as though more than just Devlin feel as though the left-back is stepping up now with Bernabei waiting in the wings should his form drop off.
It is early days yet, but according to SofaScore, Taylor is avergaing a 7.10 rating per Scottish Premiership game this season, which is already an improvement on his 6.96 rating last term.
All in all, it does seem as though Postecoglou’s clever plan is working perfectly.
