Daily Record writer Mark Guidi has tipped Celtic ace Matt O’Riley to become a ‘multi-million-pound player’.
The 21-year-old arrived at Parkhead in January for just £1.5m from MK Dons, with The Sun journalist Tom Barclay claiming that a number of English Premier League sides actually turned down the chance of signing the Fulham academy graduate.
In 16 Scottish Premiership appearances last term, he was directly involved in six goals and got off the mark with an assist in Sunday’s league opener against Aberdeen.
He earned a 9/10 rating for a ‘flawless’ performance against the Dons and has come in for huge praise from Guidi as a result.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, he said: “The guy who really impressed me and I think he could actually, in terms of transfer value and importance to Celtic, could emerge as our most important player this season – even ahead of Kyogo and different guys and Jota – is Matt O’Riley.
“I’m starting to really get it now. I’m not saying Postecoglou wasn’t bothered about losing Rogic, but you now look at O’Riley, who’s had that six months bedding in – albeit he made a fantastic impact right away – O’Riley looks to me as if he could emerge as a multi-million-pound talent.”

Alongside Guidi on the panel was former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson, who hailed the Dane as ‘very, very elegant’ on the ball.
Indeed, he held a starring role for the Hoops at the weekend, playing a game-high six key passes and 10 crosses (as per SofaScore).
O’Riley earned a first Denmark U21 cap at the end of March for his form since his switch to Glasgow and has a dream of playing in the World Cup this November, and perhaps if he can maintain the level of performance he produced against Aberdeen, he could well receive that much-desired call-up.
