The Scotsman’s Andrew Smith has picked out Cameron Carter-Vickers for his potentially worrying display for Celtic.

Celtic managed to maintain their 100% record in the SPFL this season by recording an impressive 2-0 win against Hearts on Sunday afternoon, although it wasn’t easy, with their second goal not coming until after the 90th minute.

The Bhoys do indeed sit top of the table ahead of their league rivals, and despite facing zero shots on target all game, Smith believes that it could have been a lot more comfortable had Carter-Vickers had a better performance.

Smith was left slightly concerned by what he saw from Carter-Vickers on Sunday, as he wrote in his player ratings: “Strangely made the afternoon seem more challenging than the balance of play would suggest ought to have been the case. Over-committed himself on a few occasions when Hearts did progress to their host’s final third in a bitsy second period.”

TIF Thoughts on Carter-Vickers…

The American international left a mark at Celtic last season during his loan spell from Tottenham Hotspur, which saw the Bhoys shell out £6m this summer to bring him north of the border permanently.

He featured the fourth-most times out of any Celtic player in the league last term, which shows how well he performed and the impact he made on Ange Postecoglou, but he must keep up those standards – something he seemingly wasn’t able to do this weekend.

This English Premier League winner almost moved to Celtic.

After reclaiming the league title last season and already having a spot in the Champions League group stages, the Bhoys will be hoping someone such as Carter-Vickers can help them make a big step forward on the continent after they were dumped out of Europe competition on multiple occasions.
