Podcast presenter Ryan McGinlay has been left exasperated after Celtic were on the wrong side of some refereeing decisions in their recent match.

In the Scottish Premiership this weekend, the Bhoys travelled to play Kilmarnock and managed to claim all three points in a routine victory.

Indeed, goals from the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Jota, Moritz Jenz, Carl Starfelt, and Georgios Giakoumakis were enough to settle the rather one-sided affair.

However, before Celtic opened the scoring via Kyogo, defender Jenz went down clutching his stomach after a tangle with Kyle Lafferty that left some calling for further punishment. On top of that, Celtic also had a penalty shout turned down when the club’s Japanese striker went over in the box.

Reacting to the incidents, McGinlay took to Twitter to write: “So no penalty and Lafferty is still on the pitch after studding Jenz in the groin? Why am I not surprised?”

TIF thoughts on Celtic and the incidents

McGinlay certainly seemed adamant that the Hoops should have also had a penalty, calling the foul on Kyogo an ‘‘absolute stonewaller’ on Twitter.

And while he may have been concerned about the health of Jenz after the challenge from Lafferty – with the Kilmarnock forward also pushing the defender in the same incident – the Celtic man did at least recover sufficiently to then score his side’s third goal of the afternoon with an impressively improvised overhead kick finish.

In the end, though, it all seems fairly inconsequential with the Bhoys going on to claim all three points in an easy victory which now sees them level at the top of the league with three wins from three. On another day, however, those refereeing calls could have been pretty pivotal moments.

Interesting first question, how many Celtic fans were inside Ibrox?

Level at the top of the league? Eh, no! Clear league leaders actually.
Ask yourself this, had this been the way the league finished, who’d be champions?
Courtesy of a typical SFA/SPFL fixture arrangement, the new club’s fans never even had time for their “catch us if you can” chant!
