Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph has revealed his surprise at Celtic turn both Cameron Carter-Vickers and Jota permanent this summer.
The duo played their part as Celtic reclaimed the Scottish Premiership last season, beating Rangers to the title by one point. In all competitions, Jota managed 13 goals and 14 assists, tallying a stunning number of 27 goal involvements.
Meanwhile, Carter-Vickers played 28 times in the Scottish Premiership, making 4.2 clearances, and 1.2 interceptions per-90, in the process, according to WhoScored. The defender played a key part in Celtic’s backline.
Speaking on The Celtic Exchange, Joseph admitted that he was surprised when Celtic managed to turn both loan deals permanent this summer, saying: “What I am surprised at is that they managed to bring in Carter-Vickers and Jota. During the season last season, I thought it’s probably gonna have to be one of them, but they’ve gone out and got them both. And, now I can see why they’ve done that, why they were so desperate to do that.”
TIF Thoughts on Jota and Carter-Vickers….
Celtic showed off their summer business on the opening day of the Scottish Premiership as they eased past Aberdeen 2-0, courtesy of goals from Jota and Stephen Welsh. Jota was once more particularly impressive, and justifies again why Celtic were so keen to make his move permanent.
As for Jota and Carter-Vickers, their aim will be to improve on their loan spells last season, and play their part in what could potentially be another incredibly successful season at Celtic Park.
