Presenter Dave Azzopardi has slammed Adama Traore despite his goalscoring display in Wolves’ recent victory.
In the EFL Cup this week, the Premier League club hosted Championship side Preston North End in a game they ended up winning 2-1.
Raul Jimenez opened the scoring before Traore doubled the Wolves lead with a fine volley before half-time. Ben Woodburn did grab a goal for the visitors, but it wasn’t enough to inspire a comeback.
Although he got his name on the scoresheet, it seems that wasn’t enough for Traore to impress Azzopardi, who offered his verdict on the Spaniard after the game.
Indeed, while speaking on the Talking Wolves podcast, he explained: “I know Adama Traore scored a goal, I think his runs were poor. He didn’t make the right movements in and around the pitch at all.
“When we’re attacking down that right-hand side, you want him to be on the last man. You saw it once or twice, but we didn’t see it often enough. He tried to keep coming infield, and it just didn’t work, he didn’t find the right spaces whatsoever.”
Will Adama Traore be at Wolves by the end of the window?

TIF Thoughts on Adama Traore and Wolves…
In his player ratings for BirminghamLive, writer Alex Dicken also noted that Traore also had a ‘few unsuccessful runs down the right wing’, so it’s clear that the winger wasn’t perfect despite his ‘thunderbolt’ strike, while he did only manage to have 31 touches – the lowest out of Wolves’ outfield starters – so can’t have had too much of an influence on the game.
It was interesting to see the 26-year-old get his first start of the season having only featured off the bench in the Premier League so far amid uncertainty over his future.
Indeed, The Express reports that Tottenham Hotspur could still come in and sign the player this summer after their failed pursuit of the winger last January.
And with Traore looking like a bit of a ‘poor’ fit on the flank for the club in this EFL Cup game, perhaps Wolves will be happier to let him go now.
