Insider Dean Jones has stated that he is surprised Ruben Neves’ representatives haven’t managed to secure him a move away from Wolves yet.

According to a recent report in The Times, the midfielder is set to be offered a new £100,000-a-week contract, with head coach Bruno Lage desperate to keep him.

However, as mentioned in the same article, Premier League rivals such as Manchester United and Arsenal have held an interest in the player for some time now, and so he may favour a move elsewhere as opposed to staying put.

While speaking about the situation on The Done Deal Show from The Football Terrace, Jones said that he was baffled that if he wanted to leave, Neves hasn’t been able to find a new club yet and blamed the 25-year-old’s representatives for not securing him a transfer.

He explained: “There’s even been talk that, could Ruben Neves sign a new contract if he doesn’t leave in this window? Now, I’ll be honest, I can’t see that being the case.

“I mean, so far, Neves hasn’t shown much willingness to look to extend his stay at Wolves. I know his agency have other plans for him. I have to say, I am surprised that his representatives haven’t managed to secure him a move elsewhere.

“I do think Wolves will make him an offer, I do. I think they probably already have, but I think he’s probably waiting the window out and then they’ll go for it again.

“I’m very surprised that Neves is still where he is.”

TIF thoughts on Ruben Neves and Wolves…

Still only 25 years of age, with 30 caps for his country, plenty of Premier League experience and just two years left on his contract (via Transfermarkt), it’s easy to see why Neves would be an attractive prospect for many clubs.

On top of that, his agency is the Jorge Mendes-run Gestifute, which has managed to secure notable transfers for players like Darwin Nunez to Liverpool and even Goncalo Guedes to Wolves this summer.

With that in mind, it is a bit of a surprise to see that they are yet to get this particular client a move away from his current side this summer if Neves really doesn’t want to sign a new contract.

All in all, it certainly is a little confusing, but with a few weeks left to go in the transfer window yet and a new deal possibly on the table for Neves, the situation could become clearer soon enough.

You obviously know nowt about the situation with Neves Jones, he’s happy at the club, his family are happy in Wolverhampton, maybe the £100m fee has something to do with has these so called big clubs think they can get him on a pittance, a quality player and international for nowt.
We should tell these clubs the second word is OFF unless a massive club like Barcelona or Real Madrid come for him.
