Jacque Talbot has claimed that Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos is the ‘next on the list’ at Wolves following the arrival of Matheus Nunes this summer.
The fact that Wolves are linked with a striker comes as no surprise, especially after the injury to Raul Jimenez this summer, and their struggles in front of goal last season – in which the managed to find the back of the net just 38 times.
Meanwhile, last season, Ramos, at 21-years-old, managed eight goals in all competitions as he began to show his potential. At such a young age, too, he still has plenty of time to burst into life if he did make the move to Wolves.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Talbot said: “They’re looking to get into Europe again next year. To get back in the Europa League, they’re going to start pulling a lot of big names out.
“I think Ramos is next up on the list as well.”
TIF Thoughts on Talbot’s comments…
Based on what Talbot said, Wolves certainly have plenty of ambitions this season, with a European finish targeted. When it comes to results so far this season, though, the Midlands club have had a disappointing start, losing to Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur, whilst also drawing against Fulham.
With little time left until the transfer window closes, Bruno Lage may look at recent results as an indicator that the Midlands club need more reinforcements. The last thing that they will want is a relegation battle this season.
Given their start to the campaign, however, Wolves may well find themselves enthralled in the battle to beat the drop. Signing another striker could change the course that their season has started heading to.
