Journalist Dean Jones has offered an update on Wolves’ pursuit of Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus.
The midfielder, still just 22 years old, has started the season well, playing five games and scoring one goal for his current club. And with that solid start has come links with a move to Wolves.
So far this summer, the Midlands club haven’t been shy of spending money despite a slow start to the transfer window. They’ve welcomed four new players and spent £106.74m to date, with Matheus Nunes the latest to arrive for a total of £40.5m – while striker Sasa Kalajdzic is set to join for £15.4m.
Before the end of the transfer window, Wolves could yet welcome one more addition on top of that, with Kudus still linked with a move. Jones had his say on the Ajax man, telling GiveMeSport: “He’s one of the more intriguing players that I think can be signed and I can’t believe more clubs aren’t in talks over this if he is genuinely gettable.
“He’s part of an Ajax side that I thought he would have a bigger role in, to be honest. He’ll want a certain style of club if he is going to leave.
“I’m told that Wolves would be of interest to him. I don’t think Ajax are looking to offload him particularly, but if he were to leave, then I can see Wolves being one that he would be open to.”

We feel Wolves have recruited well this summer, and it comes as little surprise that they are reportedly linked with a move for another midfielder in the form of Kudus given the fact that Ruben Neves has been linked with a Molineux exit.
When comparing both Kudus and Neves, it is the former who looks the more impressive. According to WhoScored, the Ajax man averaged a pass accuracy of 90.5% last season, whilst Neves averaged 84% in the Premier League. So, it seems as though Kudus could potentially be a perfect long-term replacement for Neves at Wolves – although it must be considered that they will both have been playing in different leagues.
Of course, a deal is yet to reach an advanced stage, but Wolves still have time to welcome the midfielder who has been dubbed “incredible” by an African football specialist.
