Wolves could pull off the signing of Benfica and Portugal U21 striker Gonçalo Ramos this summer.

That is according to journalist Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the club’s potential transfer business in the final week of the transfer window.

Bruno Lage has welcomed four new additions to the club this season in Burnley and Republic of Ireland centre-back Nathan Collins, Valencia and Portugal forward Gonçalo Guedes, his fellow Portugal international and Sporting midfielder Matheus Nunes and Austrian striker Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart.

Wolves had been linked with a move earlier in the window for Ramos, who has been described as “prolific” by talent scout Jacek Kulig, and Jones wouldn’t be shocked if the club surprised everybody with the signing of the striker this summer, with the club having done the same with signings such as Rúben Neves and João Moutinho.

He said: “They’ve surprised people before. You only really have to go back to looking when they got Moutinho and Neves.

“Nobody ever thought that those types of players at that time were going to be ending up at Wolves, and they’ve thrived.

“There’s always a chance that something like that could happen, even though the other clubs being linked at the moment seem bigger.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

We believe that whilst a move for Ramos would seem unlikely following the recent signing of Kalajdžic, we wouldn’t be surprised if Wolves made a move for the striker before the window ends, or even in the winter transfer window.

The 18-cap Portugal U21 international would likely be a fantastic signing for the West Midlands club, with the striker having already scored six goals and provided four assists in just eight Benfica appearances so far this season, according to Transfermarkt.

Therefore, we believe that if Wolves can afford to add another striker on top of Kalajdzic, Lage would not want the club to pass up the chance of adding more firepower to his squad this season.
