Journalist Alex Crook has claimed that Wolves are looking to bring in a striker in this summer transfer window on loan.

The Telegraph has recently reported that Raul Jimenez has picked up a knee injury that could see him out of action for up to eight weeks which could see him miss the start of the Premier League season.

Fabio Silva has recently joined Anderlecht on loan for the upcoming season, and with the injury to Jimenez, this could leave them short up top, and have been linked with several attacking options who could help resolve the problem such as Christian Benteke and Goncalo Ramos.

With Jimenez potentially being sidelined for eight weeks, Crook spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that Wolves are working on bringing in someone who could act as a replacement on loan, though they are targeting someone who has top-flight experience in England.

He said: “They’re working on it and they’re ideally looking to bring someone in on loan with Premier League experience.”

TIF Thoughts on Crook’s comments…

Last season was Jimenez’s first full season since he returned from his horror head injury in November 2020, and he struggled to reach the heights of what he had shown previously as he found the back of the net just six times in 34 Premier League games. In the 2019/20 campaign, he scored 17 times in 38 top-flight fixtures.

Therefore, even without the injury that the Mexican striker has recently picked up, Lage may have been looking to bring in another option up front because of the concern that he won’t be able to achieve the same form prior to his long lay-off a couple of seasons ago.

Wolves scored the lowest amount of goals out of all the sides that remained in the Premier League last year, so Lage will be keen to add goals from other areas of the field as well as to his forward line, but the Old Gold have made just two additions to the squad this summer and one of them is Hwang Hee-chan, who was already at the club on loan last term.
