Football Daily’s Patrick van Straaten has delivered his verdict on reported Wolves target Saša Kalajdžic.
The Stuttgart striker has attracted the interest of Wolves this summer, who struggled in front of goal last season – scoring just 38 in the Premier League.
It recently emerged that Wolves had agreed a £15.4m fee for the Austrian.
Kalajdžic would certainly add a different dynamic to the current Wolves side, standing at 6ft 7in. Though, it must be said, he is more than just a target man with his ability to create being very apparent so far this season, with three assists in three games.
Speaking on Football Daily’s Sunday Vibes prior to the Old Gold closing in on the striker, Van Straaten delivered a positive verdict on Kalajdžic, saying: “I think this is a great move. I genuinely love this move.
“He gives you the aerial presence that Raul Jimenez gives you, but he’s also historically been a very good presser, and he’s pretty versatile as a threat – both a shooting threat and creative threat.”
TIF Thoughts on Saša Kalajdžic…
Wolves could do with someone like Saša Kalajdžic leading the line and helping the likes of Raul Jimenez alongside him. We’ve already mentioned the striker’s ability to create, but it’s also worth noting the fact that he managed to find the back of the net on six occasions in just 15 Bundesliga games last season as he kept his side in the top flight.
It looks as though he would certainly improve the current Wolves side. The most important aspect, however, as Van Straaten mentioned, is his versatile ways of threatening. Of course, his height is amongst those threats and can prove to be a difference-maker at any moment. Meanwhile, despite having that height, he maintains a technical ability given the level of his goal contributions – something that could be more important for Wolves than anything else if they secure his signature.
