Footage from the latest Wolves match shows that opposition player Fulham Aleksandar Mitrovic was lucky not to be sent off during the game.

Over the weekend, Bruno Lage and co played their second Premier League game of the season. However, the game at Molineux ended up finishing as a goalless draw with both teams missing key chances.

Indeed, Wolves failed to break the deadlock despite having various openings, while Mitrovic then missed a late penalty which would have surely settled the game.

Despite that, the Fulham striker was actually lucky to end the game still on the pitch as he could have easily picked up a red card for an initial foul on Wolves‘ Morgan Gibbs-White, which led to the duo butting heads together.

However, the referee deemed to whole incident (as seen on the Sky Sports Premier League YouTube channel) simply worthy of just a yellow card, opting not to send Mitrovic off for his obvious misdemeanour.

TIF thoughts on Aleksandar Mitrovic and Wolves…

Considering Mitrovic has had seven suspensions for picking up a red card across the span of his career, it’s no shock to see him at the heart of a controversial incident yet again.

On top of that, he had just missed the crucial penalty, so he may well have been feeling pretty frustrated as he chased back to try and stop Gibbs-White from c0nturbitng to a late Wolves attack.

His foul on the English midfielder was certainly worthy of a yellow card and then his decision to follow this up by butting his head against the player was also a bookable offence. All in all, the two incidents should have probably led to the Fulham ace being dismissed.

Although it was late on in the game and may not have changed the outcome of the match, Wolves supporters still have the right to feel baffled as to why the opposition forward wasn’t sent off.
