Journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Wolverhampton Wanderers have got to get a striker in the door before the transfer window shuts.

Wolves have made three signings in this summer transfer window and are getting closer to securing a deal for Matheus Nunes, who will be their fourth acquisition.

However, there is an attacking issue at the club as Raul Jimenez has not been available in the opening two fixtures of the Premier League season due to injury, meaning that Hwang Hee-chan has had to lead the line for Bruno Lage in his absence.

With Jimenez being sidelined due to injury in the opening stages of the season, Jones spoke to GiveMeSport and claimed that he believes the attacking issue will be resolved before their next game.

He said: “Undoubtedly, they’ve got to get a striker in. This has to happen; it is a case of urgency for Wolves.

“They’re still a good side, they’re just lacking that cutting edge in the final third. And I think that is something that they will look to fix before the next game.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

Wolves had the worst attacking record out of all the sides that remained in the top flight last season, as they found the back of the net just 38 times in the Premier League, so even with Jimenez fully fit, Lage might still have wanted to upgrade his attacking options.

One man who Wolves have been linked with this summer is Goncalo Ramos, but Newcastle United are also thought to be interested in signing him, so it will be interesting to see where the forward ends up this summer.

Wolves had an impressive defensive record last season, conceding the fifth-lowest amount of goals in the top flight (43), so if they can bring in a reliable goalscorer, there could be exciting times ahead for the Wolves faithful.
