West Ham United’s frustrating transfer window so far has led to it “getting a bit tense” around the London Stadium.

That is according to Dean Jones, who was speaking to This is Futbol about the Irons’ potential transfer plans ahead of the final month of the transfer window.

West Ham have welcomed three new faces to the club in the form of Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca, Rennes’ Nayef Aguerd and Swansea City midfielder Flynn Downes, whilst the club have also made the loan of Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Alphonse Areola permanent this summer.

However, the £30m signing of Aguerd has been tinged with frustration, with the Moroccan having to undergo ankle surgery following an injury picked up in the club’s pre-season defeat against Rangers.

And according to Jones, the club still have issues they need to address before the transfer window closes on 1st September.

He said: “It’s getting a bit tense, really, because David Moyes needed to use this window to his advantage and there’s just been so many frustrations.

“At the moment, I’d say that the forward line probably looks alright and there are problems elsewhere, particularly new issues in defence that they’re going to have to address.”

TIF Thoughts on Jones’ comments…

We think that West Ham fans will be worried after reading Jones’ comments, with the journalist suggesting that there may now be some frustration heading into the final few weeks of the transfer window.

With Aguerd potentially facing as much as three months on the sidelines, the club may need to dip into the market for another centre-back this summer, whilst the club also need to get the potential deal for Eintracht Frankfurt and Serbia wing-back Filip Kostic wrapped up.

Therefore, it looks as though it could indeed be a tense few weeks for fans of the Irons leading up to the transfer window’s closure in September.
